To start a local split screen co-op game, you need to either start or continue your campaign. Depending on whether you're playing over split-screen or online, your connections may vary: If you're playing split-screen, make sure that both you and your friend are signed into profiles. There was a way to enable this feature again (see the Steam community post here), but we at Co-Optimus cannot state for sure whether this method still works. A new focus on co-op play teams you with a zombie-destroying sidekick Sheva, who changes the way RE is played. Co-op is also supported in the story DLC, "Lost in Nightmares" and "Desperate Escape." This ruins the want to play co-op to be honest. The entire Resident Evil 5 campaign supports two player, drop-in/drop-out co-op online.

Me and my brother want to play Resident Evil 5 for PS3. Once the game starts I believe the second player needs to hit their "start" button which then brings both players to the Item Management screen. Hit the PS button once your at the item screen, go to your friends list and hit triangle on the one you want to invite send the invite and wait for them to join.
